Highly transparent films for long durability and legibility
Laminate films for print protection
To protect against abrasion, weathering and chemicals, a laminate film for labels provides the top layer for maximum durability and long-lasting legibility. Depending on the area of application, films with a high-gloss or matt finish and a pleasant feel are available. For special requirements, we also offer protective laminates for industrial labels with a grained surface and in various thicknesses – ideal for durable, resistant labels in demanding environments.
- Extended label life
- Available in various thicknesses and materials
- Optional high-gloss, matte, or decorative grained finish

Application areas of laminate films
Laminate films reliably protect labels and markings from mechanical, chemical, and climatic influences. They prevent scratches, abrasion, and damage from handling or machines, and ensure that markings remain legible even with intensive use. They provide an effective barrier against chemicals, oils, greases, and cleaning agents, which is particularly crucial in the chemical and medical technology industries. UV-stabilized laminates protect colors and materials from fading and decomposition due to sunlight and are ideal for outdoor applications. They also enable easy cleaning, meet hygiene and safety requirements, and can be combined with tamper protection.

What are the 3m™ Thermoscript Laminate Films 76500, 76510, and 76530 Suitable for?
They are specifically developed for applications where laminate is to be provided with variable information. Thanks to a pretreated surface, they can be subsequently labeled using thermal transfer printing. Screen, flexographic, letterpress, and offset printing are also possible.
What Advantages Do the 3m™ Thermoscript Laminate Films Offer?
They reliably protect prints from weathering, abrasion, and chemical stress. They also impress with high dimensional stability, electrical breakdown resistance, and resistance to climatic stress.
How Do the Individual Products 76500, 76510, and 76530 Differ?
- 76500: Transparent matte, film thickness 0.031 mm, adhesive 310E (0.020 mm), glassine protective paper 0.056 mm
- 76510: Transparent glossy, film thickness 0.039 mm, adhesive 310E (0.020 mm), glassine protective paper 0.056 mm
- 76530: Transparent matte, film thickness 0.056 mm, adhesive 310E (0.020 mm), glassine protective paper 0.056 mm
What Temperature Resistance Do the 3m™ Thermoscript Laminate Films Have?
They withstand temperatures from –40 °C to +150 °C without visible changes.
How Chemical-Resistant are the 3m™ Thermoscript Laminate Films?
The films are resistant to most oils, greases, fuels, aliphatic solvents, weak acids, salts and alkalis. Tests with heptane, diesel, engine oil, cleaners, acids (pH 4) and alkalis (pH 10) showed no changes.
Which Printing Methods Can be Used for the 3m™ Thermoscript Laminate Films?
- Thermal transfer printing: Very suitable for variable data. Print quality and durability depend on the ribbon used.
- Screen, flexographic, letterpress, and offset printing: A color qualification test is recommended before series production.
What is the Adhesive Strength of the 3m™ Thermoscript Laminate Films?
Examples (measured after 72h, 70 °C):
- Stainless steel: 6.8 N/10 mm
- Aluminum: 6.4 N/10 mm
- Polypropylene: 1.8 N/10 mm
- LDPE: 1.3 N/10 mm
What is the Durability of the 3m™ Thermoscript Laminate Films?
- Outdoor use: 2–3 years
- Indoor use: almost unlimited
- Shelf life: 2 years at 23 °C and 50% relative humidity
What Special Approvals Do the 3m™ Thermoscript Laminate Films Have?
The products 76500 and 76530 have UL and cUL recognition (File MH18072) for indoor and outdoor applications. They are approved for use with certain thermal transfer ribbons (e.g., Armor AXR8, Ricoh B110C).
