3M aluminum foils are characterized by high temperature and weather resistance. The material’s low recovery force allows for adhesion even on shaped parts. The modified acrylic adhesive of the 300 series enables good adhesion even on difficult and low-energy substrates such as polyethylene and polypropylene. These foils can be easily labeled with a typewriter or automatic labeling machine.

Based on our current findings, the following functionality and durability can be expected for 3M aluminum foils 7800 and 7940. Generally, not less than the following periods under vertical outdoor weathering, provided the foil has been professionally processed and applied according to 3M recommendations:

Durability unprinted: at least 2 years
Shelf life 2 years
Recommended Storage Conditions in cool, sun-protected rooms at room temperature

Printing Screen/Letterpress/Flexo/Offset printing processes
A color qualification test before series production is recommended.
Note: It is advisable to also test the base print for chemical resistance if required!
Thermal Transfer Printing Not suitable
Die-cutting Sharp knives and minimal web tension are recommended to prevent possible adhesive bleed.
Substrate Pretreatment / Bonding See Processing Information KG-054

Please note: The protective cover must be removed from the foil (not the other way around!) to prevent the foil from rolling up or curling, or lifting after application.
