High-temperature Film 3922DSL

white matte

3M 3922 DSL / 3922 has been developed for marking applications where very high demands are placed on durability and resistance to extremely high temperatures.

The cast acrylate film is UV light and weather-resistant, solvent-resistant and dimensionally stable. The matte, white surface can be post-labeled using thermal transfer printing and offers a very good contrast for the legibility of barcodes.

3922 DSL / 3922 is equipped with a modified acrylate adhesive that creates a permanent bond even with difficult substrates such as low-energy and structured surfaces.

A typical application is, for example, the marking of printed circuit boards; the functionality of the foil is highly dependent on the soldering profile used and the surface of the substrate. 3922 DSL / 3922 is also an economical and reliable solution for other processes with similarly difficult operating conditions, e.g. in some areas of the steel industry.

Based on our current knowledge, the following functionality and durability can be expected from 3M™ Thermoscript foils. Generally, not less than the following times with vertical outdoor weathering, provided the foils have been properly processed and applied according to 3M recommendations:

Durability: Outdoor use: 2-3 years /
Indoor use: almost unlimited
Shelf life: 2 years
Recommended storage condition: 23°C / 50% relative humidity. It is recommended to store the film/label rolls
in polybags.

Printing: The best results are achieved in screen printing.
A color qualification test before series production is recommended.
Note: It is also recommended to test the base print for chemical resistance if necessary!
Thermal transfer printing: The special surface coating of 3M™ Thermoscript films is very well suited
for subsequent marking using the thermal transfer printing process. The visual appearance
and the resilience of the subsequent marking depend on the ribbon used.
In order to achieve an optimal print image, the printing speed
and the transfer temperature of the heating bar may have to be varied.
Die-cutting: Sharp knives as well as minimal web tension and the use of the
siliconized liner on both sides are recommended to avoid possible
adhesive leakage.
Pretreatment of substrates / bonding: See processing information KG-054
