Overlaminate Label Materials OFL010N Velvet Lexan™

3M™ Outdoor UL Recognized Lexan Label Products are durable, matte, clear polycarbonate overlaminates with excellent moisture and abrasion resistance. They use 3M™ Adhesive P1400, a high-performance, modified acrylic adhesive designed for demanding environments.

  • Adhesive ingredients are approved by the FDA (21 CFR 175.105) as indirect food contact substances when used in food packaging with minimal exposure.
  • UL recognized for indoor and outdoor applications (UL files MH11410 and MH16411).
  • Adhesive offers good UV resistance and excellent adhesion to many substrates, including polyolefins.
  • Polyester liner for OFL010N, OFL0109, OFL020N: High strength and thickness control, ideal for high-speed labeling or applications where adhesive clarity is critical.
  • Kraft paper liner for OFL0102, OFL0202: Optimized for high-speed die-cutting and matrix removal, remoisturized after siliconization to reduce side curl, ideal for perforation and fanfold applications.
  • Polykraft liner for OFL0208: High strength and thickness control, ideal for high-speed labeling.

  • Peel Adhesion: 2.2 lbs/in (528 N/m) – TLMI Method, 180°, 12″/min, 1″ wide
  • Loop Tack: 1.8 lbs/in (316 N/m) – TLMI Method, 12″/min, 1″ wide
  • Adhesive Coat Weight: 1.85–2.15 g/100 in² (TM-2279)
  • Shear Strength: 4 hours – TLMI Method, 0.25 in² × 500 g
  • Release Force Range: 5–50 g/2 in depending on product (TLMI Method, 180°, 300 in/min)
  • Operating Temperature: –29 °C to +60 °C
  • Processing Temperature: +5 °C to +49 °C

Application Instructions:

  • Surface must be clean and dry (e.g., clean with heptane or isopropanol).
  • Best adhesion at room temperature or higher.
  • Below –12 °C, the adhesive is too firm for maximum contact.
  • Higher initial adhesion with increased pressure.
  • Adhesive P1400 is compatible with various printing methods and end-use applications.
  • No issues with correct tensions, handling, and storage conditions.
  • Storage: 22 °C, 50% RH
  • Store in polyethylene packaging to minimize moisture exposure.
  • Shelf life: 2 years from date of manufacture
