3M 76970 and 3M 76971 have been specially developed for tamper-evident labeling. They are equipped with a hidden “triangle symbol” that clearly detaches from the foil during removal attempts and remains adhered to the substrate. On the foil, this symbol appears as a void, and labels made from this material cannot be transferred undamaged. 3M 76970 and 3M 76971 are equipped with an acrylic adhesive and are also suitable for bonding to low-energy substrates.

| Adhesive type (according to DIN 30646) | PNS (permanently adhesive, low-temperature, special adhesive) |
| Liner | siliconized and compacted paper – especially for roll printing |
| Minimum application temperature | +5°C |
| Functionality of the “triangle symbol” | up to approx. +80°C |
| Shelf life | 2 years |
| Recommended storage conditions | in cool, sun-protected rooms at approx. 10-25°C and 35-65% relative humidity. |
3M 76970 has a higher light transmission due to the Triangle technology. This may require marking the protective paper so that the labels are recognized by the light barriers of the thermal transfer printer.

Resistance to chemicals and solvents
The foils are resistant to most mineral oils and greases, fuels, aliphatic solvents, weak acids, salts, and alkalis.
Careless peeling of the label from the release liner can lead to a so-called premature destruction effect. To avoid this, the foil should be peeled slowly, maintaining a peel angle of
90°. The strength of the “triangle” effect is significantly influenced by the adhesive strength to the substrate. Therefore, thorough cleaning of contaminated substrates is particularly important.
Rotary die-cutting is recommended. The loose winding of the label rolls avoids possible adhesive leakage.
