3M™ Durascript films have been specially developed for subsequent labeling with individual data (e.g. serial numbers). They are provided with a matte surface coating. 3M™ Durascript films are suitable for bonding to low-energy substrates such as PE and PP as well as powder coatings.
| Material | Polyester |
| Temperature resistance (glued to aluminum) | -40°C to +150°C, no visible change |
| Dimensional stability (DIN 30646) | Code number 02 (shrinkage < 0.2%) |
| Electrical breakdown resistance (VDE 0303, T2) | Minimum value: 82.2 kV/mm Average value: 84.1 kV/mm |
| Fire behavior in the bonded state | self-extinguishing after 15 seconds, does not drip |
| Opacity | covers high-contrast colors of the substrate well |
| Salt spray (DIN 50021 SS) | 150 h, no complaints |
| Fungus | fungus-resistant, does not promote fungus |
| Substrate corrosion | does not cause corrosion on the bonded substrate |
| Adhesive | modified acrylate series 300, also suitable for low-energy substrates such as polyethylene and polypropylene as well as powder coatings |
| Minimum bonding temperature | +4°C |
According to our current knowledge, the following functionality and durability of the 3M™ Durascript films can be expected.
Generally not below the following durations for vertical outdoor weathering, provided the foils have been professionally processed and applied according to 3M recommendations:
| Durability | In outdoor use 2 – 3 years In indoor use almost unlimited |
| Shelf life | 12 months |
| Recommended storage conditions | +23°C / 50% relative humidity. It is recommended to store the film/sign rolls in polybags |
| Printing | Screen, letterpress, flexographic or offset printing processes. A color test is recommended before series production. If necessary, it is recommended to test the base print for chemical resistance. |
| Punching | Sharp knives and minimal web tension are recommended to avoid possible adhesive leakage. |
| Pre-treatment of substrates / bonding | See processing information for bonding 3M colored films and Scotch™ transfer adhesives. |
| Aluminum | 21 N/25 mm |
| Steel, stainless | 21 N/25 mm |
| Polypropylene | 17 N/25 mm |
| Polyethylene | 13 N/25 mm |
| ABS | 20 N/25 mm |
| Acrylic resin-based paint | 15 N/25 mm |
| Acrylic glass | 21 N/25 mm |

Foil adhered to stainless steel, tested after 72 h storage in standard climate +23°C / 50% relative humidity, DIN 50014.
The foils are resistant to most mineral oils and greases, fuels, aliphatic solvents, weak acids, salts, and alkalis, such as:
| Loading agent | Loading time | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Heptane | 4 h | no complaints |
| Petroleum | 4 h | no complaints |
| Diesel | 4 h | no complaints |
| Engine oil SAE 15W40 | 4 h | no complaints |
| Windshield cleaner | 4 h | no complaints |
| IPA | 4 h | no complaints |
| Industrial cleaner (lemon) | 4 h | no complaints |
| Pril | 4 h | no complaints |
| Acid (PH 4) | 4 h | no complaints |
| Alkali (PH 10) | 4 h | no complaints |
Foil adhered to stainless steel, tested after 24 h storage in standard climate +23°C / 50% relative humidity. Evaluation was performed 1 h after removal of the samples from the test liquid containers.
